I would like to see less metal clips and more plastic/zytel (non-metal) clips on spyderco knives, they used to be that way! Are there any models available with non-metal clips? everyone I know that likes spydeco knives agree. the metal clips catch on everything, they bend, they tear up car seats/furniture etc. I have never broke anon metal clip before and i feel they are alot better!! thanks evo steve

I'm not sure about non-metal clips, but I would like to see whatever they use for clips to be designed in such a way that it doesn't tear up whatever it catches on. If you use zytel, that is cool, but they break, and if they get sprung out, then you are just SOL, there is no remedy. I think there should be some kind of a rubber coating that could go on the clips that would help with this problem. I know stuff like that exists, I used to use it on projects in high school. I just can't find it now as I have moved and have a different group of stores available to me, and it would require modifying the clip a bit to allow for the thickness of the coating. With that said, I guess I am just too lazy to modify clips myself, but it would be a nice option to come from the factory.

spyderco maeks the pro grip model with a metal clip overlayed with a type of rubber called kraton. i have been puttting these on almost all of my spyderco's. it has kraton on both sides of the clip. works for me.

Hi EvoSteve. Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

The early plastic clips had their problems in "spring memory" and breakage. the metal clips solved both problems.

We just finished testing a plastic coating for the metal clips that worked well. It will be a while before they are on the models, but they're coming.
