I was just wondering...is anybody else besides me using carbon fiber models for EDC, Or is it more common to have the carbon fiber models locked up for collectors items?? I have been using my dragonfly CF and police CF for EDC and they are not in the best of shape. just wondering....shawn

I specifically bought my CF Police for collecting because they were numbered. For EDC,I much prefer the feel of G-10 to either CF or SS. The only CF knife I own I'd use for EDC would be my small CRKT M-16. The handle is just the right size/shape that I can wrap my fingers around the whole handle and position my pinkie at the butt,so the smoothness is moot. Also, the CF Police actually seems to weigh a bit more than the G-10. So basically,I like CF's for collecting and G-10/FRN's for EDC.

Thats why I would like to see a mat finnish CF Delica or Native.
I learn something new everyday, even though I don't want to. Jeff
As it may have been noted, I'm a big G-10 fan, but now I work the tamer end of the street I also consider CF a good EDC alternative.
Very light like G-10, even classier looking than SS but not as slick as SS, and tough as nails. All a damn good handle material.
Walk softly, carry a big stick.

As noted above, this is why we need a matte finish CF Native<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
I have 2 CF knives that are in the EDC rotation, one a bit more than the other... and have no problems with them. They are matte finish instead of polished, and they hold up great and have much better grip than polished CF.

I have been carrying my CF lefty police model since it arrived...it is simply too nice to leave in a showcase! It HAD to ride with me.

I can hardly wait! I've got one on pre-order and arrangements made to have a CF pattern concealex sheath made by Mike Sastre. The Delica was my first Spyderco and I plan on carrying the CF version regularly.

Hi Al. No, they're finished in the high polish gel coat finish. Easier to bead blast a "shiny" version, than polish a "matt" version.
Personally, I've carried a number of polished CF models with no problems. There is occassionally some talk of the "slippery CF". Spyderco models are pretty ergonomic with "expansion" in a number of places in the design to prevent slipping. I prefer to rely on the ergos for control than the texture. Texture can always be added, if needed.

I carry my CF models for EDC simply because they look "cooler" than FRN models... the polished CF stands out.

To mention another topic posted here some time ago: "What's wrong with FRN?"
I have my FRN Delica and I love it <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Alex ~ Have you not got a CF or G-10 <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> yet?
I carry my Walker CF as one of my edc's. rr

I like your point of view Sal, and I had already noticed this.
However, what is wrong with going as far towards a goal (in this case grip) as possible without compromising?
In practical terms, in what way(s), besides asthetics, any better than the G-10 that Spyderco uses?
Is the CF's only Real advantage over G-10 it's admitably vulnerable good looks?
Can CF be made as Grippy as G-10?
BTW I would really like to see/get a Police in G-10/VG-10/ComboEdge.
