Do something like that on the military blade. Means thicker scales to allow it... and maybe a bit more weight... but it'd be smooth as silk

I would be reluctant to put that on a knife that might encounter any sort of grit.
If it did sieze it would require disasembly to fix.
Notice the grease on the bearings.
Also, Balisong collectors/users are always taking appart their toys, so it is ok for thier use.
Sealed ball bearings maybe, but any sort of ball bearing pivot would greatly increase cost.
Also the military uses an eccentric pivot doesn't it?

it does which presents the only problem with using it on tis type of knife... but if it's easy enough to take apart, wouldn't be a problem with dirt...

I remember CRKT has this feature at some of their knives. Though I was excited when I first saw them, I'm not very sure it really is an improvement. I am pretty satisfied the way my spydies operate.
