More and more I find my self having to decide which is better for carry while in the outdoors and hunting ect., a small fixed blade like my spy moran or a large folder like my military and its just getting worse the more I get. Which do you think is the better tool for the outdoors?

It all depends on your regular usage. I find a 4" fixed does most of my work in the outdoors, when I add a small hatchet for chopping. Toss in a 2"ish folder for whittling when bored and I'm good for most of my usage.
Food, shelter, firewood, activities, and campcraft.

Depends what you're doing out there, I guess. For general woodswandering, a good, stout folder will do just fine. For camping/survival where something stout may be needed, you can't go wrong with a tough little FB.
Hunting, I'd suggest the FB if you plan on doing anything messy like cleaning game. Folders are just too hard to clean thoroughly.
Never underestimate the impossible.

Any of you guys own one of those big camp choppers (like a Busse battle mistress) ? Find them useful? I've alway been intrigued but I carry a camp hatchet when I go out.

dann(aka glockman) has a battle mistress...
My Word, My Honour, is my Life.
This one is now my outdoor/camping blade:

I tried a Military as a camping knife, but like this one better. Mainly because it's a fixed blade (no worries for dirt getting in the pivot/lock) and it's simple drop point shape.
When I go a bit more urban (visiting a city for ex.) I carry my CRK Sebenza.
And to work, my Cricket or Navigator.

In the field I now go strictly fixed, and I've got a great selection to choose from! RKBA!

I normally carry more than one knife on the trail.. A fixed blade and a folder would normally complement each other.. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Word up bro. You need both. (Just for hiking, I guess the Millie alone would be OK).
