View Full Version : How much would you pay for that 1 Spydie?
Here's a question for all you Spyderholics. How much would you pay for the one Spyderco you have always wanted. I am curious to see how much one would pay for a knife they just had to have.
My self I paid just over 300 dollars Canadian for an Aluminum handled Bob T. PE. I would pay up to 500$ Canadian for the larger Bob T. PE in G-10. Don't get me wrong here I am not trying to start a bid/trade/buy/sell thread here I am just curious how far you would go to get that one Spyderco. For me it's the G-10 Bob T. What about you guys/gals???

300 bucks on my #003 CF Walker. That's about my limit.

Geez. You guys must be pretty serious collectors or something.
I can't think of a Spyderco I want enough that I'd be willing to pay more than the MSRP. More than half of it is even a little iffy.
There are a couple I've really wanted since day one, and I managed to get them for 1/2, 1/3, and 1/8 MSRP.
I enjoy the trading as much as I enjoy the dealing; getting a good deal without ripping someone off is just as enjoyable to me as getting a new knife.

Generally, I agree with you, James, but the last MSRP on my Walker was $456., if you can find one. Most newer Spydies are made in pretty big quantities. Remember supply and demand.

There's one rare discontinued Harpy I've been trying to find for my collection. I would consider paying a princely sum should it appear!
I have only seen a pic of one (on BF) and apparently, the folks that have this knife don't read the "Knives wanted" forums!!!

I would do $150 to get an Alu PE Bob T. Jr.
If it would be $200 for example, I rather spend that to get a refurbished Small Sebenza.

You guys are talking an amount of money I couldn't save in a whole year, but assuming I'd have them, I'd pay up to 400 of your US$ for a Spyderco Kershaw Chive, with stellite blade, 50/50 serrations (like the Ladybug), titanium handles with textured edges, modified assisted opening and an integral compression lock... And of course with a round opening hole.

Hi Alex. Why don't you try to come up with something SPECIAL!....
Just kidding...
All early and loooong out of production Spyderco knives loke the Klötzli made Walker, the Jigged bone Jess Horn, the P.I.G. Police, the Gary Blachard engraved models, and many more are appreciating very fast these days. Most of these models are close to 10 years or even older now and very hard to find. I've mentioned it before, be aware that all the first collaboration models have never been made in large quantities and over the years the number of knife collectors have grown. It's just a matter of supply and demand. Who believes that you could get a boattail Duesenberg for 1/2 off??
JMHO.
Clipits work!
Samo the C-15 started it all for me. Saw some guy with one in a Blade mag in "the knife a carry" column. I have been hooked ever since.
$500 Can. is like approx $350 US. Sure there are lots of customs out their but that is THE knife for me.
Dialex I don't have those funds just sitting waiting, but I would get them for that one purpose, I don't know too many people that could afford that.

I think I'd place my limit at about $150. I have a genuine love for the C40 Khalsa and was prepared to pay $100 for one until I got a hold of a NIB C40P in a trade.
For the right one, I think I could be pushed to $150.
I think I'd have to stick in the $150 or less range...

Currently buying the full set of Blanchards, all serial number 002. Refuse to say what the cost is in case Mrs Java reads this! My limit is negotiable for rarities like the TTZ Probe and the Mastodon/Dinosaur bone handled Executive....but hey, some people pay 95K+ for an SUV (Porsche Cayenne).

If I had it(I don't) I would pay the going rate for the new A.T.R., that to me would be the ultimate co! RKBA!

Paid about 165 Euro's for my Police SS/SE. I know that is way too much, but Spyderco knives are here about 1,5 times the prices in the US.
