I had entered this earlier, but it did not appear on the forum, so here 'tis again:
Are there any plans on making a Calypso Jr. II, in Right Hand carry ?
- I have a Calypso, and a Calypso Jr. in Black Micarta, and a Calypso Jr. II. All 3 are for left hand carry. When the knife is clipped to the right pocket, the blade faces forward. Normally, the blade would face rearward to the corner of the pocket.
This added versatility will complement this great design.
The only stainless handle knife that I see in the catalogue, that is for either Left or Right, is the Native II.

Tom,
I think there may be some confusion here between left/right and tip-up/tip-down carry. The Calypsos are all tip-down and designed for right handers (except the Ltwt which is also drilled for lefties). A tip-down knife will always have the blade facing forward, i.e. away from the corner of the pocket, so that the knife must be turned in the hand to bring the thumb in line with the hole. Alternatively the hole is in the ideal position for a "drop" opening. OTOH tip-up knives have the blade facing backwards, i.e. against the corner of the pocket, and the knife comes from the pocket in the correct orientation for thumb opening. Left-handed knives will have their blades in the same position when clipped to the left pocket, again depending on whether they are tip-up or tip-down.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Clay,
If your reasoning falls true, the only 'left' hand stainless knife that Spyderco makes is the Dragonfly II.
I carried an Endura for about 10 years and I am used of the blade being to the back of the pocket.
While inserting my hand into pocket yesterday, past my Calypso II, it was extremely easy to find a small burr on the back of the knife blade (left a good scratch on the side of my hand). Had the blade been facing the back of the pocket this would have not been noticed.
With the blade to the rear of the pocket, the drop opening you mentioned is still possible, but I still have to turn the knife to open it properly anyway.
Having the blade to rear of the pocket so your hand slides against the back of the knife seems to make sense some to me. Although I am ambidextrous to an extent, the Calypso feels better in my left pocket. But, I would prefer it in my right pocket with the blade to the rear.

Tom,
I think in fact that the only stainless "leftie" is the Native II. With the clip reversed it can be carried in the left pocket in the correct position for a tip-up knife i.e. with the blade facing backwards towards the corner of the pocket. The Dragonfly II is a tip-up, right-handed knife.
