Was surfing this evening and ran across this knife. I hadn't seen or heard anything about it before... anyone have any information? Is it new, or just not talked about? :-) Here is the information as listed....

"Special Services Folder

A great new addition to the pocket knife carrying selection. This has a stainless steel Tanto shaped blade with a slight belly to it (similar to the Microtech SOCOM) and a stainless steel body. They are constructed like the tactical Spyderco Police model but have the reversible clip and great blade. Model TM 94043: Serrated Edge Blade

Inventor: Spyderco® Design Team

Type: Folding Lock Back

BIade Length: 3.40"

Blade Material: AUS-8 Blade Hardness: 58-59 Rockwell Overall Length: 8.25"

Handle: Stainless Steel

Pocket Clip: Left/right interchangeable with integral Lanyard hole fastener Diamond-shaped "thumb" hole.

Special thanks to Sal Glesser for making this knife possible."

The Diamond-shaped thumb hole is interesting.

Sal, what about this knife?

Thanks,

Found another reference to this knife. It looks as if it's made by Timberline... it carries their name. Now I'm really confused!
What about it Sal? :-)

Yeah, it's a Timberline knife, not a Spyderco. It's a few years old. Cut and paste for pic: http://www.knifecenter.com/knifecenter/timberline/special.html

Timberline is another Colorado company and Spyderco helped them with this knife. Also (and don't quote me on this), I believe that Spyderco owned the diamond shaped hole as well as the round one and allowed Timberline to use it here. I ain't fer sure on that though... it will be interesting to see Sal's info. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Thanks for the come-back... I appreciate it. Yes, I have since realized it was my late night haze that caused the whole question... I was at http://www.cutlerytogo.com/index.html did a search for &quot;Spyderco&quot; and the Special Forces knife was one that came up. I didn't notice it said Timberline, and was there because of the Spyderco reference... ah well, I would still like to hear the &quot;rest of the story&quot; from Sal.. :-)
Thanks again,

I've know John Anthon for many years. Several years ago, he asked uus to design a knife for his (then) new company, Timberline.

We designed the model for John and have patent protection on the design and the diamond shaped hole. It's a solid piece, very well made (in Seki City). The blade is a double bevel &quot;Tanto&quot; style.
