A-ha! More questions again!
Have any of you Spyderfolks ever encountered classic and vinatage <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>s off the shelves in your travels such as : The Flat Iron Folder, <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Dive probe, Mariner and the Two-Screw Clipped C-01 in mint condition? I'm particularly interested to check out the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Flat Iron Folder if there's any left.. These are really rare cos little is ever mentioned about this particular <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>... <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hi Ted,
There was a pix of the Flat Iron on Spyderco's 'discontinued' knives section.. too bad I didn't save that picture.. Its rare and only old timers would know the sole existance of this <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>.. Sorry about not having the picture dude.. <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Samo, just looked up an old Spyderco page on www.archive.org, and found the following text:
<I>
Flat Iron Folder
The Flat Iron Folder’s strong, wide spear-point blade is so versatile that its uses are practically limitless-skinning, whittling, any general cutting chore. The hollow ground blade boasts a cusp on the back of the blade over the Spyderco Trademark Round Hole™ for a thumb rest. The handle? Made from the same lightweight fiberglass reinforced nylon resin as all other Spyderco lightweights; with a Volcano-Grip pattern, a teardrop shaped drying vent for use in wet environments, and of course, a pocket clip. Available in a 50/50 SpyderEdge/PlainEdge blade only, the Flat Iron Folder retails for a suggested price of $58.95

The link of the picture is dead however. I'll try to find some more on <A HREF="www.archive.org">www.archive.org</A>
Ted
After reading the description, it sounds a bit like a pro-grip knife, but with a spear point blade and a harpy like drying vent
See my modified Pro Grip picture <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
I'm really curious now!!

Ok guys I actually own a flat iron folder in my collection. If my poor memory works tonight I will take a pic of it and post on the forum. As for the knife, haven't used it but handled it a bit. It is a bit larger, think it might be a FRN rescue handle. As for blade shape it reminds me somewhere between a native and a Lum chinese. Someone remind me and i will get the pic up.

Flat Iron folder was offered through Ironstone. I know that for sure, can try to get a pic as soon as I find my old Ironstone Cat. Not certain if this model was "only" offered through Ironstone though.

Pics aren't working. The page is too glossy. the description says "only from Ironstone" It might just be the CE that is displayed that is an Ironstone exclusive.
Description to the best of my abilities are: ATS-55 steel, 3 5/8 blade length, OA length is 8 1/2. It has a rescue FRN handle, spear point CE blade(almost like an Endura but wider and comes to a point over the hole(not rounded like the Endura)) The descroption Ted gave in italics is the same in the tronstone Cat. Sorry the pics won't turn out.

Ok I almost forgot. Here is the picture of the flatiron folder. CKE is correct as far as I have info. It was an Ironstone exclusive and when the store closed they brought all remaining stock to SFO. Ted- there are a couple that I am still looking for. Somehow I keep missing out on an aluminum PE C-15 Terzuola. Yeah but VW no more than a couple people have had the chance at those.

Hey, my guess of it's shape wasn't that bad with the modified pro-grip. (apart from the overall size). <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Thanks for the pix guys!
