I've decided after carrying the FB02 for about 2 months, I don't care for a fixed blade for an EDC. I want to get the most knife I can get in a folder, for under $100.00, not counting tax, or shipping. In a co for me that looks to be the Military. Give me all your openions, on all aspects, especially on how well the lock has held up! If I get one, it will be PE with the new 30V steel. I'll be looking to get a new folder at the 2003 Blade Show. Thanks for all reply(s)! RKBA! P.S. and no I'm not getting rid of the FB02, it'll be a back up hunting knife(still crazy about it)!

I am planing on getting a S30V PE at Blade too.The Military is a great knife. It has the best liner lock I have ever seen. The Militaries pivot lets it be adjusted for wear.It is the only liner lock I have had that I like and trust.Well except for the starmate witch is the same lock.
Email me when Blade gets a little closer and we can try to meet somewhere at the show.
I learn something new everyday, even though I don't want to. Jeff

STOP this!! You guys are both going to the Blade Show, while I (Living in Denmark) can take my kids for a trip to Legoland!! It´s not fair!!
The millie is a great knife. The lock is STRONG!! Mr. Smith mentions the Starmate as another strong Spydie, but I think that the Millie is quite a bit stronger.
Have a great day when the show gets there!!
Vox.
Love my Millie!!!!! Can't say enough good things about it. I had it put away for awhile but now it is back in EDC line up.
Enjoy the show and give us a review/report when you get back.
Vox>being an old die hard Lego buff I would love the chance to see Legoland.

legoland? isn't that my storage bin? have a "few" thousand pieces... a good number of years were spent playing with it.
As to the millie. It's been 24/7 other than a short bit while I fixed my edge and tip. Love it.

I am extremely satisfied with my S30V Military. When I first got it, the lock was somewhat tight, but I never consider this a bad thing in a knife. Now it has worked in some, and has a delightfully smooth action. The fact that it is still a little closer than my 440V Military has solved the only problem I ever encountered: the fact that in tight reverse grip there was a little blade play due to fingers slightly moving the liner. From what I've read on the net, other have encountered this too. Now, I don't know whether the slightly tighter lock, which solves the aforementioned minor problem altogether, was a conscious decision on behalf of Spyderco, or whether this is a fluke (as in, all knives, even production, slightly differ from one another..), but I do consider my new S30V to be completely perfect. Buy one! You won't be disappointed.

pcvh, you are absolutely right! I got my Military S30V PE a few days ago, too and I really love it.
I think it almost looks like a custom knive with some sort of a minimalistic beauty. ;-)
The blade is a dream but what really impressed me were the G-10 handles. This stuff is almost as sturdy as steel, it's impossible to bend it even slightly. As much as I like the FRN on the Endura, the G-10 is classes beyond.
The lock is very good also. No blade play, just perfect. Very well done, Spyderco!

i have several military models but find myself packing my police model ....think about a police model ive seen them around for an incredible price of 75 bucks a far cry from the 180 i payed in the early 90's for my first police model and get this there better than they usto be .... the wegner is a cool knife very politically correct but it'll still do the job... good luck at the blade show

MEX-CUT, I don't like stainless knife handles, no tack!

I love the Millie. The lock is just great, best liner lock I own. Best cutter I own too. It really is a superb piece of cutlery.

I think my Millie is the smoothest opening folder I own. The liner-lock is very secure. You won't be disappointed.

Outdoors I carry an FBO2, EDC is a Veile. If you want a hunk of knife - get a Chinook. Doo love the Millie, just a little thin in the grasp.

Millie fills my hand nicely... normal sized palm, long skinny fingers.
Index in the choil, my little finger hits right in front of the bulge at the rear. Or flip it over, and the meat of my thumb hits in the indent infront of the bulge, pad of thumb on choil, and index on grip notches...

Alan, I think you will love the Millie, I just recently got 1 back and I can't imagine how I ever made it W/O 1.
It's light weight in NO way compromises strength, the single steel liner I admit worried me a little at 1st about being easy to warp the G-10 enough to unlock the liner, but I can't make it disengage no matter how much lateral pressure I apply.
I'm totally pleased with mine, although I'd still buy a dual steel liner version if ever produced 1.

HI Alan2112,
I haven't owned a mililtary as yet. But seeing the pics and getting the dimesions from the products web site, i made a card model cut out of the knife in the open position.
Nice pice of steel to hold i'm sure and with the grind that makes the blade a real slicer, it's one great thing to own, I'm sure.
Have a great day,
Kaizer
