I have always disliked the black clips that Spyderco puts on some of their knives. They may be OK for a knife in a collection but once you use them for an EDC, the clips get ugly. The high points and edges wear off first, leaving you with a "well used looking knife". Have been carrying this FRN Delica for a month or so and decided to work on the clip. jsmith told me earlier that paint stripper wouldn't work on a clip. He was right. Used a wire brush on a grinding wheel to remove the paint (or whatever it is) and then used a fine grit emery cloth and Met-all metal polish to finish the job. took me an hour. This is an EDC with no collector value so what the heck! I've found that green Scotchbrite pads take the black off better than about anything I've used, without removing any appreciable metal.

Last time I tried to use the wire brush on my 8" bench grinder it flipped the clip out of my hand and I spent an hour finding it in the shop

Good job Fred! if you really wanna make it shine get some buffing compound and a felt or sewn muslin wheel.
Yes MEX CUT they are all the same stainless steel underneath, for removing the coating I do it in 2 steps.
Brass wheel to remove the majority then the polishing compound and cloth/felt wheels to shine the finished product.
PLEASE do NOT try sandpaper, the scratches are near impossible to get out later, BTW you will see when you start this project it's a 2 step coating and not paint.
Some clips I leave a little black in the symbol for added appeal.
Hope this helps some. Ron

The bright clip (actually I didn't take it all the way to a mirror finish) really enhanced my Delica. Dan, thanks for the tip on the Scotchbrite pads. Going to have to get some. SC_Rebel, the wire brush took the black off to a dull SS finish. I used the finest grit emory cloth I had and finished buffing my hand. Don't have a buffing wheel.
I do have 2 grades of Micron paper that I used for polishing fiber optic ends with AT@T but it wasn't necessary in this case. Thanks for the tips.
