Hello everone,

First time do the forum after 10 years and 20 spydercos the love affair does not seem to fade. My everyday carry knife is a 98 endura spyder edge, had 6 of them with first one being purchased back in 1992. Although I like my milatary and goddard alot the endura is more comfortable in my pocket, as the typeof work that I do dictates that. I have a few questions that I would appreciate if anyone knows the answers. 1. Last year I went in the ocean with an ATS-55 bladed endura after about 2 hours on land I had noticed rust spots and a hairline fracture in the blade, I know I was at fault for not rinsing it right away or at least waxing it before but is this normal? 2. What type of endura was purchased by which branch in the armed forces, and what model sales the most? Sorry if my first forum is long hoping to hear from someone thanks Mike!

Hi Michael. Welcome to the Spyderco forum and thanx for the kind words.

Regarding ATS-55 and corrosion resistance, it seems to be about on a par wth ATS-34, but we're still earning about it.

We introduced this new steel a few years ago and new steels always force learning curves. The blade should not have cracked though...I would send it in for a looksee.

The armed forces (all branches) seem to favor the Endura as top choice in all blade configs.
