I'm a slipjoint/lockback guy who likes traditional folders with stag or bone scales--the stockman, barlow, trapper, and the like. But today FedEx delivered my first Spydie--a Native III. What a beauty--functional and darn good looking (and terrific lock-up). It fits so good in my hand and looks like it will last a lifetime. I'm sure if the Native came in bone, Spyderco wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand. A wonderful design. Oh, how I wish I was around when the Jess Horn lightweight C38 was available. I want one so bad.

Welcome to the Forum!

You're right, the Native is a great design. I own 4 of them - so far.

If you like the Jess Horn design, A.G. Russell might still have some of the stainless steel handled version in stock. I own a Lightweight and Micarta handled version of the Jess Horn and it makes a great knife for "dress-up" occassions when a smaller blade is less of an "attention getter"

JWIS206,
Welcome to the Spydie forum!!!
One is all it takes to becoming addicted. Sounds like you should look at the Kiwi next.
I'll keep an eye out for a ltwt Jess Horn. Have you tried EBAY??

Did a quick EBAY search;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2177702292&category=14 03

and,

You'll need to "cut & paste", and they are not the ltwt, but the micarta version. Model #34, I think.

I'm also a Native fanatic. I just bought my first Spyderco a few weeks ago, and it is a Native. I just saw pictures of the Native III, and they look nice.

I'm hearing talk of many different Natives....
The S30V, G10, Forum Natives....So many models, so little money!
My Native is the "regular" one, I guess, with 440V.

Howdy Jwis! Welcome to Land!

The Native's one heck of a change from a traditional folder, isn't it? Now if only Remington made one in the 30s...

By the time you read this, you'll have already read it.

I'm really surprised at the Native III, in a good way. The old GIN-1 Native was my 3rd Spyderco ever and served me well. The Native III is just that much better. It fits my hand quite nice, even a bit better than the original.

Concerning a Jess Horn, I have one in Micarta that's not getting used or appreciated. Let me kwow if you're interested, I'll make you a deal on it.

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum. There is the Anniversary Delica available. Bonestag handles and damascus bolsters. You might like it.

Yeah that Delica is nice, but it is what I call "big money". I would love to have one.
