I see these knives sometimes pretty cheap on E-bay,are they good knives? The point looks thin, like it might break. They look like good defense knives. What do you all think?
Had a chance to buy a Renegade once and passed because I tought it was ugly and not a very good design. Just my thoughts though. I didn't find the handle all that comfortable either. Take Care!

I disagree, I think the Blackhawk and Renegade are great designs that were underappreciated when they were in production. They're both knives I wish had not been discontinued.

I bought a Blackhawk yesterday and will let you know my initial impressions when it gets here ... The one I bought came from a guys collection and it looked pretty good in the picture. How bad can a Gin 1 / G10 Spydie be ? ...

I have a few of both and they're great knives. The Renegade fits surprisingly well in your pocket for a large knife. But, I'm a big fan of "Bowie" style knives. They're a bit tight to open, maybe too strong of a lock, but they loosen up after a while. I may try selling a fairly new set on ebay soon, I don't know.

The Blackhawk got here today. It's within a hair of a Delicas, length but seems more substantial somehow. The G10 is nicely done. Mine is a SE. The overall knife seems a bit more custom / finished than my Delica. The Gin-1 steel is nice.

I agree. Just bought a Renegade to match the Blackhawk. I should get it in by mid-next-week. These are super knives for the money.

Just got my Renegade/Blackhawk set today. Got the pair off eBay for $90,which I figure is a hellofadeal.
I love the Blackhawk. It's like a heavy-duty version for the Benchmade Ascent I used to carry. Gonna have to get a second one for EDC rotation. Has a really beefy feel for a mid-sized knife, yet still on the light side. Only complaint is the clip makes it ride high in the pocket. This knife could really use the cresent clip. And a Boye dent would be nice, but overall I'm impressed.
Renegade is like a clip point Police. Nice enough knife, but for some reason the ergos don't work for me. Something's not right about the finger groove. Needs to be wider or shallower or something. Otherwise a nice piece that could also be improved w/the cresent clip and Boye dent.

My Renegade came in Monday and it is gonna need some work to loosen it up. Haven't had time to play with it yet, but at first blush, it's a substantial knife. Out of the 2, I'll likely actually use the Blackhawk due to the smaller size.
I saw that set for 90 on Ebay.. Looks like you got a good deal. I've forgotten the guys name that you bought from, but I've seen him post on the board occasionally.

Yeah, I've been cleaning out my Spydie collection. Amazing what people want and don't want.
Dynaryder- glad you were pleased.
My favorite was the Renegade. The ergos worked perfectly for me, but, I carry a Police as an EDC, so that may have something to do with it.

Budman, wazzup? Can't believe that #$&^% heidi let me get the PE Harpy(I have a bad history w/her). Keeping an eye on your "R". I have a G-10 Police that gets carried,it's just the finger relief I don't like. Too deep or something.

I like the G-10 Police. Trying to sell it because I thought it would sell. Who knew no one would want it. I don't think I priced it too high, but, what do i know?
Amazing how much trying to keep two Harleys on the road costs. I was doing fine with just my Road King, but now my wife rides an '89 Sporty and, Oooo, it gets costly. Just dropped $350 for tires for the RKC yesterday. The rear was a nail magnet and after the third puncture in 5 months I figured I try again with new ones. Hopefully the jinx left with the tires. :-)

Stevie:she got me again. #001 blue Native. :-P
Budman:$350 for tires? Where do you buy them? Last set I bought for mine was under $200 w/shipping + another $20 to get them mounted on the rims. Got them from a website and pulled the wheels in my Dad's garage. Saw the Police, but I've already got a couple SE's. Price seemed reasonable to me.

Dynaryder .... Yeah ... I saw that Native. It got a little pricier than I thought it would. She kinda stepped up hard for that one. I think they were all numbered 1 of 300 though.

I got them at the dealer. Fairly good deal, really. Dunlop 402 PT's, the Police version with half inch thick sidewalls that'll let you ride on a flat. $135 a piece. Normally they run around $190 each. They also replaced all the gaskets and seals on the primary side. Developed a leak after they had to replace the belt. Picked up a screw that split the drive belt in half. Good times!

Sorry to go here again, but I've finally got the Renegade loosened up and oiled and it is really a sweet piece. Feels good in the hand and rotates to defensive easy ... Feels good in my hand .... I likely won't carry it, but darn ... it's nice. I see why Spyderco priced it at 129 originally.
