Razer,
Welcome to the Spydie forum!!!
The Military would be an excellent purchase anytime!
It is a good sized knife so make sure you can carry it before you get one.

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum. The Military is a great knife, with a large handle which is very comfortable for users with large hands. The flat ground blade with lots of belly is a great cutter also.
The only caveat for some is that it is a liner lock and therefore not too handy for left handed users.

Welcome,I have 3 Militaries. They are the best knife you can buy at any price.I got to handle some 300 to 600 dollars customs at Blade and IMO they were not much better if any than the Military.

Hi Razer
Nice to meet another UK spydie fan.
The Military is an outstanding knife - I think you'd be well pleased with it.
BTW - which part of UK are you from?

If you buy online most dealers will fill out the customs ticket as a sell and it will cost you alot.Glasshartt bypasses this but shes temp.out of bussiness seems like..I would be willing to recieve it for you and send it to you taged as a gift so you will not have to pay any import taxes.

The Military is an excellent folder...UNLESS you happen to be a "lefty" (like me), in which case, the FRN Endura would be a much better choice.

Probably your best bet for buying in the UK would be www.heinnie.com. Alternatively you could try www.framarknives.co.uk. Their website doesn't show Spydies yet but they do carry them - I was looking at a few including a Miltary on their stand at Bisley recently. Unfortunately Spydies, like most things, cost a good deal more on this side of the pond. I've not a lot of experience myself of buying from Stateside dealers over the net but have heard some good things - any suggestions guys?

Hi Razer
Yep, I'm an NRA member. Don't get to Bisley as often as I'd like but was down for the Phoenix Meeting and will probably get back for the Trafalgar. What do you shoot?

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum. The Military is an excellent choice. Try to get the newest model in S30V.

I sure love mine ! Most comfortable knife I own, and for such a big folder it carries great clipped. Great blade, handle, price, craftsmanship.

Razer,
You might want to check Ebay.Com
If you search for 'Spyderco Military' you will see quite a few offers. Some of them do ship internationally.
Most of the times they will ship it anyway you like, with a lower price on the customs slip and the contents described as 'hand tool'.
I got over a dozen shipments from the US in a USPS Global Priority Flat-Rate envelope. The price is fixed at $5 (to the Netherlands, I guess the UK isn't that much different).
The last one got here in 3 days!
You might have to ask the seller to fold the box flat and wrap the knife in bubble-wraps.
I received a Starmate, a Military, a Rescue, a Chinook (!) (all large ones) and a bunch of small knives, even a $345 CRK Sebenza this way.
But, then again, it's not insured in anyway, so there is always a risk, but my record has been a 100% so far.
www.tool-shop.com in Germany also sells Spydies and shipping is free, but the prices are more expensive then in the US.
Hope this helps.
Ted
Almost forgot, these envelopes fit through a standard mailbox. And my experience here is that everything that fits through a mailbox isn't charged for import duty and VAT. I only had to pay that on big boxes, never on these envelopes. But, YMMV
