I am having a problem with the Triangle Sharpmaker dulling my knife points. I must assume there is something wrong with my technique, as I've heard nothing but raves for this product.

Any "pointers"?

Hi homeproductsnmore and welcome to the Forum!

In order to avoid dulling your tips you have to stop the sharpening motion before the knife slides off the rod. This is very important. Never allow the blade to slip off the rods!

The easiest way to do so is to slow down your sharpening motion, in order to increase control and precision. Just concentrate on the correct position (vertical) of the blade and go s l o w l y! And as mentioned before, never allow the blade to slip off. Hope this will help <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

dePaul,
Thanks for the welcome and the advice! I figured as much, but I wanted to hear it from someone who knew what they were talking about. Now I just need to grind down my knives so the tips are restored again! :-)
