I would like to know if there are any new Sprint Runs in the schedule with a color G10, like the Native Blue BladeForum Model? I personally would like to see more of this type of product from Spyderco. Even the use of color with carbon fiber, anything but black!!! How do the rest of you guys feel?

How about a dragonfly or police model in blue or yellow carbon fiber?
Howdy,
Yeah, some colors would be fun. I would still be partial to black because it is inconspicuous. It blends in with my belt, etc. However, I'm sure if Spyderco made some colored G-10 models they would be just too cool to resist.
I'm already confused.
Take care,

Bring on the COLORS!!!!
Forest Green, Burgundy, Purple, Yellow, etc.
Both CF & G-10 would be great! (Oh yeah, don't forget Almite too.)
I think plain edge would sell the best but I'd personally like to have just a bit 'o spydie-edge at the base of the blade. Just 10-15% would do it.

I want to see some colorful Spydies also. They are appealing to the wife and if you can get your wife to like a few knives, you have got it made.

I seem to recall sal saying something about FRN being the easiest to add color to. Although G-10 in forest green would look spiffy, it may only be FRN with colors.
Besides... Don't you think the Native or Military would look sweet with a forest or army green handle? It would blend in nicely with my normal clothes... combats, canadian regular issue. I go down to our 2nd hand army surplus about every 2-3 months. My last trip I got boots for $40.

I am sure that FRN would be easiest to add color to, but the G10 & Carbon Fiber is what most Collectors want! There has been plenty of talk of the Military with a G10 Camo or Army Green. That would be great, but to stir up the collectors, we need "MO COLOR"!!!

I think I remember Sal saying that the g10 handles on the little Temperance knives were going to be something other than black. I think he also said the same thing about the Military Junior prototypes as well.

The color could also be done with almite. The blue(?) on the almite Navigator is nice. How about a Police with the same handle material and color as the new Navigator?

I for one, feel that more colored handles could do a lot to make the knives more appealing to non-knife-knuts, well that and a low price of course. To the so-called 'sheeple' the colour black alone seems to have a strong weapon connotation, at least that's my personal experience. Coloured handles could make a knife look more like a 'gadget' than a 'weapon' to non knife-knuts. Combine that with a moderate price and blade length and configuration, and perhaps a larger segment of the market could be persuaded to buy Spyderco! In other words, bring on the blue Delicas! ; )

Spy De,
The prototypes of the Temperance Jr. were a faded green g-10, and I asked Sal at a local show if they were going to stay that color, he said they would.
Unfortunately, I(and many others I know) don't go for the color thing, at least on MBC models. Hopefully, the Temperance Sr. will be in full black. Sooner or later you got to call a wolf a wolf instead of trying to dress them up as domestic pets. IMHO.
I think colors would be advantageous marketing-wise on the general utility pieces though, definitely.

KenN,
I think there is value in both. It is cool to have a defensive knife that looks like one. I have a Chinook and a Ayoob and will pick up a carbon fiber Civilian and a serrated Gunting when they come out. If Spyderco ever makes the UUK I will get one of those too. And that is definitely a wolf in wolf's clothing.
On the other hand there are some advantages to having a defensive knife that looks more like a utility knife. As much as I would like to ignore them, the opinions of coworkers, juries, police officers, bosses often do matter. Some people work in very restrictive workplaces. The Temperance Jr. might allow them to carry a defensive knife that they would ordinarily have to leave at home. Deception can be a tactical tool too. I will pick up at least one of the blade styles of the Temperance Jr. when they come out.
On the other hand I fully support the idea of a black Temperance Sr. Did Sal say anything about it?
-Glenn
Unfortunately, I forgot to ask Sal that. I do remember the blade size being figured at around 3.75"(for the Sr.), I think I was trying to negotiate up for 4", to place it in the Military and Police class. I hope they do outfit the Sr. handles in black.
I can easily see a tailend sprint run of blue or white shell-inlayed Temperance Sr.'s contrasting against the black sculpted scales as a 'well dressed wolf'.
I too intend on getting one Jr. as well, for the same reasons you mentioned. Practicallity is different for each individual, I know. I'm just glad that Spyderco is flexible enough to attempt filling in all our gaps.

Does anyone know what color the Almite coating is going to be on the Commemorative Worker?

Agree with Ken N, black for the tactical, Military, Police types. Colors are OK for what I call dress carry. Recently acquired two Jess Horns, one in burgundy micarta and one in white micarta for that purpose. They look great for their intended use.

There are always going to be BLACK KNIVES!!! Everyone makes black. But did you ever notice that the collectors always jump on any variations with color!!! I have never said do away with black, not that would happen. I am just saying add some more color!!!

I am bringing this back to the top, so maybe Sal can respond to this question! Thanks, ronybear.....

Thanx, Ronybear. We're looking into more colors all of the time. Blue Delica just came out as a regular item. Almite Navigator is a dark blue. Lum Chinese Folder is green. Temperance jr is a dull green. Meerkat is expected in 3 colors.
Too much too fast overwhelms the distributors & dealers.
