Hello friends!

If you had to choose one blade steel for all of your spydies, what steel would it be and why?

I would probably choose 440V . . . well at least today I would.

CPM440V comes in first, with ATS-55 coming in a close second. I think these are both good working steels. I've never had a problem with either rusting or pitting.

I would have to go with VG-10 if I'm dealing with Spyderco only. Seems to be an excellent combination of toughness, edgeholding, and stainlessness.

I've grown partial to my ATS-55, but the best steel I've come across, I've only had in one knife... Pakistan Steel. I've got a 5" lockblade skinner... hasn't touched a stone in 20yrs, and it rivals my spydie for an edge...

We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

Hi Wolf. I have not yet experienced a "good" steel from Pakistan. At least not in the years I've been involved in knives (more than 40). You have an oddball, IMO.

For good all around use and ease of sharpening, VG-10
