I am looking for a big tough all-around knife. I like the ATR but it is expensive and somehow not visually satisfying. I like the chin up to but I don't like back locks in the old model was really blocky. I'd like the li'l temperance but it's a little small and I don't like the threading directly into G10 thing, By the way it is the temperance have some type of female threading.

How about the Military model?

My problems with the military, first and probably least valid the blade is only seem too thin for its length for truly heavy use compared to say the Wagner or impula. Second in most critical my index finger rests flat on the liner block seem solid but I just can't seem to see myself risking my fingers in a pinch began this was a problem I didn't have with the Wagner liner lock which admittedly lock all away to the right which I did not have a problem with ignorance is bliss, I'd much rather have a hard time closing it then well you know. On the upside it seems both solid and surprisingly nonthreatening for a big light knife only 4 oz. my good old Wagner was six and to be honest the ergonomics on that knife were perfect it inched on the bottom end I think the port needed to be smoother for whatever you call the gap that the knife folds into. And thank you for your reply.

The Military is a great knife. But it is not what you need. What you need is the Chinook. Rock solid, sturdy, S30V (or CPM 440V) Bowie shaped blade, front lock, MBC rated(!), dual steel liners with G-10 scales.
BTW, about the Lil'T: by threading directly into G-10 I suppose you reffer to the clip attachment. Don't worry, it is not threaded in G-10 only but also into the nested steel liner. Yes, the Lil'T has steel liners

druid,
I know it's not what you are looking for, but have you thought about getting a Spyderco Temperance fixed-blade? That's a strong little knife that will not fold-up on you, and you won't have to worry about the clip screws ripping out.

Druid,
Welcome to the Spydie forum!!!

What about the Starmate?? The blade is thick CPM440V, it is a tough model, carries well, and feels good in the hand when open. I think it is what you may be looking for.
Good Luck!
