Viele C42 Modifications

The new Viele C42 is indeed a beautiful functional knife with truly amazing fit to the hand and a satisfying heft.



The shiney pocket clip makes it more conspicuous than I'd like. Is a black one available from Spyderco or elsewhere?



Alternately, I could put it in a simple discreet sheath in my pocket or maybe on my belt. Can I remove the clip to make the knife a bit more compact without compromising the knife's function?



Finally, the action is just a tad stiff for my taste. Can I safely adjust the pivot to be a bit looser?

Yes- I believe its the clip from the calypso jr. I would say call and ask Angela at SFO but she is kinda busy right now. She did it for me, knew the right clip and screws (they are different) but it can be done. I had the same idea about it being too showy. Wow a Viele with a stiff action- yet to see one. Good luck.

I did the same thing as jyork and if you can't get one from SFO, let me know. I've got a couple of extra ones. Whatever you do, don't flick it open to break it in. That will wear out the linerlock very quickly. At least on the old style ones it would. Good Luck!
