Is a Spydie warranty voided if it is disassembled to clean it thoroughly?

I like to take some of my knives apart for cleaning/maintainance every once in a while, and was wondering if this would void my Spydies warranty as it does on some other knives I own.

Or is it like another company, if you take it apart and put it back togather without having parts left over, and never say you took it apart, you are okay, but if you mess up reassembly/or make a point of the fact that you took it apart you are SOL.

Also, how does custom modification work with the warranty. If I have the scales replaced, file work done, etc. Does that void the warranty?

Thanks,

Tique

Hi Tique. Technically, if you take the knife apart, it voids the warrantee. If your taking it apart causes the warrantee problem, you are creating avoidable work for us and we will probably charge you for the repair.

Warrantee work is a loss for any company. In our case, it eliminates whatever profit was made on the model to begin with. Fortuntely, we make good product so there is less failure. But...we make a lot of product.

We say don't take it apart to cover our butts on the loss end.

Hope that makes sense.
