And I'm not talking about your habit.

I've been throwing all sorts of sharp implements as a fun past time in my backyard for the past couple of years.

I have a variety of purposely made throwing knives and have had fun in finding all sorts of way to throw them (backhand, sidearm, underhand, etc.)

After reading the post "Throwing Folding Knives" I began to wonder...could I do it? It never occurred to me that my FRN CE Endura could be thrown, but I said "What the heck? It couldn't hurt too bad." So I took my Endura to my target in the yard, stood about 10ft away, gripped the handle of the knife, checked the weight/balance, and then gave it a heave. It stuck pretty good into the target with a reassuring "thunk!" I repeated it about a dozen times, getting 10/12.

I found that if I removed the clip from the knife, it throws a little easier. Which brought this thought to my head.

"Which Spyderco(s) make the best throwers?"

I personally think the FRN Endura is weighted pretty good and has enough length to make a good throwing knife.

What about the rest of you? What do you think?

I think that many spydies are quite suitable for throwing. The Endura, Delica, Native and Calypso jr. (FRN models) are those that came in my hand and those make for some pretty good throwers.

I, unfortunately, don't have a Calypso jr. to try throwing. The other two you mentioned (Delica and Native) do work very well though.

My target is a large, dense, styrofoam archery target tacked onto a large wooden board. I find that it's great to stick small knives into and it is also very forgiving if I miss hitting the target with the point.

That kind of makes me wonder...is VG-10 more impact resistent than say...SV30? What about AUS-6 vs. ATS-55? Hmmm...

Oh, and BTW dialex, you have some awesome knife ideas. Keep up the good work :-)

Thank you for your nice words.
A thick styrofoam target is great, saves the knives.
