The quality seems to be about the same except for the liner lock knives.Golden does them much better.

I learn something new everyday, even though I don't want to. Jeff

I've noticed that Seki Spydies are heads and shoulders above Golden knives in fit and finish. Seki Spydies are also much more readily available in the dealer network. The Golden plant always seems to be way behind in production.

Important thing to remember, all of these knives MUST pass Spyderco's quality standards no matter where they are manufactured.

Ya know, the thing I find most intriguing about the difference is that you can SHAVE with serrations on a Seki-made knife, while Golden's serrations are, umm, not AS sharp...

I would think that they are all Spydie approved no matter where they come from. Some QC issues might get through but overall there is no real glaring difference in quality in any of my Spydies. "Always reliable high perfomance" sorry that was cheesy. Take Care!!!

I haven't noticed a lot of difference, but non-knife people who have looked at my Spyderco's usually ask the question: "made in Japan"? I try to explain that the quality is the same but they don't buy it. What really surprised me is the quality, fit and finish of the Ti- Salsa made in Taiwan. I still like to see "Golden, Colorado" on the tang but as long as the knife is up to Spyderco's standards I'm happy.

I am perfectly satisfied with any spydies, no matter if they are made in Golden, Seki or Taiwan. Yet, for no particular reason, i like more the ones that say &quot;Golden, Earth&quot; <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Applicable to Meerkat. The one I tried from Seki had a better fit and finish yet it was quite stiff, a little to stiff..too much of a strain to comfortable unlock...yet still better finish. The Golden ones have a thinner blade which is a big plus for me, better lock release, 440C instead of AUS-6 which is always a plus..poorer finish on steel..

The Spydies I have are made in Golden, CO. I'm extremely satisfied with them.

My Native FRN, serrated, is the smoothest folder that I own. That I've ever owned, for that matter.

I also love my Dodo, which is a Golden piece.
I'm happy with Golden's quality.

I'd say they're equal. My Golden Natives are every bit as well made as my 3D's,and my Dodos are every bit as nice as any of my Seki custom collabs.

I use to think their Seki knives had better QC, but now I think Golden may be turning out a slightly higher quality knife! With the Golden plant now switching over to S30V steel, the Golden knives are really at the top of the production made knives! RKBA!
