I have most of the collaboration knives but still would like to have the 2 big ones. I have seen both on ebay recently but the prices were more than what I wanted to pay. A Jess Horn C27 recently sold for lots of cash and this evening a Michael Walker C22P went for $283. I have set a limit on knife prices but when you think about a small Sebenza costing $300 and the 2 Spydercos mentioned above being super rare----The Spydercos are seeming more and more like a bargain. I probably misssed the boat. How many of you own these 2 and how much would others pay for NIB examples)? Jerry

Hey, I would say don't give up on finding them and to post on Bladeforums and possibly here if you are seeking to find them. I got a C22 Walker CF PE a while back for about $250.00 from a person who responded to my about my desire to purchase this knife. I had done the same previously with the Blue G10 Natives and was able to acquire a SE and PE. By the way, my top bid on that auction was $250.00...I wanted one for EDC. But I think I'll have to wait for now. Anyhow, I hope you are able to find the spydies your looking for at this time. Good Luck!

When I first saw a picture of the C27 Horn, I knew I had to have one. I bought mine on eBay for $270 about two months ago after watching a couple go for well over that. The last one that sold there brought less, and my only regret is that I could not justify buying a second one, or it would have sold for more than it did. Fit and finish on them is fantastic. I love my jigged bone Kiwi, and think it it a well made and well finished knife, but the C27 is head and shoulders above it. Was it a good investment, will it go up in value? I neither know or care, I would never sell it. I don't carry it as often as I carry a Kiwi, but I do carry and use it. Is it as "good" a knife as a Sebenza? I can't answer that one either, can only say that the Sebenza does nothing for me, to my eyes all frame-locks look unfinished.

Hi Fred, In the past I've reacted to more posts concerning discontinued Spyderco folders. The two knives you mention are by far ( together with the 25 year anniversary Delica) the most disireable collaboration models to date. Both knives are excellent performers but they will show even better investment potential over the years to come. Why? Let me explain: C27 Jess Horn; Jess Horn is a very well respected custom maker with a small output. His knives are serving the very top of the collectors and investment knife market. His knives are never found on the re-sale market! They go for thousands of $. This very early collaboration with Spyderco was founded on the personal relationship of Jess and Sal. The knife was made by Moki, a very small Japanese family knife making business. Moki turns out almost custom quality product. Everything on this collaboration was different as usual. The one and only Spyderco folder with out a hole!!!! This will NEVER happen again!!! Fantastic workmanship and extremely close tollerances. Look at this custom made SS clip, a piece of stainless Art in it's own right! There were not many (less than 1000 I believe) produced. This makes this a real killer investment.
C22 Michael Walker/Klötzli; This was a very difficult collaboration project involving 3 parties. The designer Michael Walker, a fantastic high $ custom maker and designer who never makes more than one of a design. H.P. Klötzli, a Swiss producer of high quality knives since over 100 years and Sal/Spyderco. This was the first production linerlock with Carbon fiber scales. This knife had everthing customized. All titanium fittings were custom made and anodized, the clip, the liners, the 3 screws and the pivot pin. Two batches of approx, 1500 pieces were made. Fortunately they differ. The older models run from 001 to 1500 and have glossy Carbon fiber scales and engraved markings on the ATS-34 blade. The second batch, no one really knows how many were made but probably not as many as the fist time. It took ages for Klötzli to produces these knives. The second bath had a matt finish on the Carbon fiber scales and the blade marking were different and etched in stead of engraved. This was the first model made in Europe and the only Spyderco made in Switzerland. All this makes both models very, very collectable even when you know, that the collaboration ended in a kind of twist and Sal decided to buy both other parties out. All rights are now with Spyderco again, but the pattern will not return. How rare can a knife get. The further away from the States, the rares these knives will be and this will reflect on their value. Expect these knives to appreciate al lot over the next 5 - 10 years. They will become the modern Lovelesses! Just to put the stories to these two rare and wonderfull knives. Spyderco is very, very special!

Will there ever be any more discontinued Spyderco's to bring prices like these?

4 s ter, Yes, you are right. The bulk of models that Spyderco has produced over the years makes you overlooking certain models easy! Thru the grapevine I hear that Spyderco is considering a new Laguiole model for the future. Will this one carry a hole....?

A "Q" with the outline of Alaska instead of a Spyder, and sun rays coming from the thumbhole instead of a web, sold for $306 on eBay auction today. My two cents.

Hi Daddy !(Alex), altough the Solo knives are Sal-design knives, none of them have a opening hole in the blade. This does not qualify them to become Spyderco Clipits. Every once in a while Sal comes up with a design that he feels is so worthwile that he will have them produced, even if they don't have a hole. These knives will find their place under the Solo brand name.
