I just won a NIB Navigator off of ebay. It'll be technically the third Spyderco I've ever had, but the other two were both delicas, so this one will be totally new to me. I don't know what GIN-1 steel is or if it's good or not but I've never known Spyderco to make crap. Since they've been discontinued, I probably won't put this one to heavy use and try to keep it in semi-collectable condition.

Lots of peopel love gin-1/g-2 steel. hear it holds an edge a little better than ats-55 and sharpens like aus... but thats just going from what I hear. haven't used it myself.

I've got a Navigator with GIN-1... I can say without any hesitation that you won't be unhappy with it!

I have an almite navigator with the slotted handle. It's Gin-1 blade steel and a great knife. Despite the knife's small size, it is still very ergonomical.

With those slots in the handle, I'm a little concerned about it getting dirt and fuzz in the springs, but then again, that will make it easier to blow out. Anybody had any problems with that?
