To be honest, I prefer to see one of his folders in production. Very nice designs.

just a quick "q".
What is the purpose of this design...is it a fighter?
Vox.
I think that it can be aplied to both combat or field use.
dialex can give the best answer on his design.

I would buy one automatically because its a Dialex. I do like his folder designs better. But I would grab one just to support furthering someone's passion becoming a reality. I'm a big fan of dream big achieve big.

Wow, thank you all for your support, it's amazing. I am glad that you like it.
Vox, the knife isn't intended to be a fighter, though I suppose it would perform satisfactory. What I had in mind was a knife I'd carry for outdoors. Not too thick (4 mm), yet strong, that's why I picked the hollow grind. The tip is quite broad, so it is pretty strong, and also you can eventually use the knife as a small shovel. But I also wanted the knife to allow both stabbing and prying, therefore the particular blade shape. Also, the edge has two portions: the one near the tip has some belly, good for skinning, food preparation, even delicate cutting. The one near the handles is slightly curved, thus better for cutting rope, branches, stuff like this. As you notice, where they meet it forms a sort of a "spur", which is good for penetrating the material, allowing the edge to do the rest of the cutting easier (somehow the way a serration does).
The holes into the quillon and handle will allow the knife to be fixed at the end of a stick, and transform it into a harpoon or a spear.
The vents in the blade are for balance and for improving the grip if you need to keep your hand on the blade instead of the handles (also for a more precise cutting).
At least that's what I had in mind. When the knife arrives I'll see how well theory matches with praxis. I'm sure some tuning is necessary before proposing to Sal to make a batch.

I am waiting to hear back from DMKnives and I am trying to get about 30 - 50 done. If not I will try 20 of these. They will be serialized.
Let your voices be heard.
edit to add:
Also waiting to see what Dialex's changes are to the design if any are done.

I sincerely hope this isn't sliding way off topic. If Carlos (or anyone, for that matter) feels like this has become too much of a trading topic (though it's intended to be a poll IMO), please delete it, I'd hate to damage my relationship with the Spyderco community.

ceya:
I would buy one in a second, but I am currently out of work and broke. Do you have any idea how much these will be going for once you get a batch made?
I have a promising interview tomorrow, so I may have money again in the forseeable future...
