Welcome back Joyce and Sal! I was comparing what "The Spyderco Story" says on the C27 to the two C27S's I recently purchased from a dealer(came in the small Spyderco pouches similiar to the C22). The book shows "Horn ATS" on the ricasso below the Spyderco name, however these knives have "Horn" below the Spyderco name and ATS-34 Japan on the opposite side. Because of this difference were these earlier or later versions and do you know how many were produced? Also, they are numbered under the trapezoidal indentation on the blade-one is 283, the other 343. On comparing the two knives there is a significant difference in the size of the signature/number engraving between them. Did Jess Horn actually sign and number some of these pieces? Have to add that I got the CF plain edge Civilian today, no.537-awesome knife Sal!

I'm sure you've been busy since your trip, I thought I would bring it back on the chance that you might have some information on the topic. Thanks!

Hi Springer. We only did one run of Horn C27s. 500 total pieces. We did make some changes in the engraving during the run.

Jess didn't actually sign each one. We etched Jess's sig on the blade.

The C27 was a very difficult project. Actual costs were much greater than planned for and the pieces are truly collector Spydercos.

Thanks for the information Sal! I can understand why the cost was high based on the overall fit/finish, polished interior handle parts, and sculpted clip. Thanks again!
