Designed by Eric Glesser and originally released in 2003, the Dodo is one of the most unconventional knives Spyderco ever produced. It combines a compact but extremely capable Reverse "S" blade with a significantly larger handle that boasts sophisticated ergonomics and a high-strength Ball Bearing Lock™ mechanism. Truly ahead of its time, the Dodo had a relatively short production life and original examples are now highly prized.

The most distinctive feature of this expression of the Dodo is its blade, which is precision machined from CPM® M4. A popular choice for high-end custom blades and knives used in competitive cutting, CPM M4 is a special-purpose high-speed tool steel produced by the particle metallurgy process. Its advanced alloy composition, high vanadium content, and extremely fine grain structure give it exceptional wear resistance and toughness—properties that translate to outstanding edge retention and impact resistance in knife blades. The sinuous PlainEdge™ blade of this knife is hollow ground for exceptional edge geometry and offers cutting performance far beyond its compact size.

The handle of this elite knife features Blade HQ's signature natural G-10 scales. The near-translucent quality of the G-10 highlights the knife's refined design and the scales' peel-ply texture complements the handle's ergonomics to ensure an ultra-secure grip during use. To ensure ease of carry and keep the knife poised for a rapid draw, the handle includes a reversible wire clip that supports left or right-side tip-up carry.
