frankensalt - yay or nay?

I (apparently) love me some para 3s. I have 5 of them, including these two: the bd1n DLC SE, and the new magnacut salt. I think the DLC would look awesome with the yellow scales. I wish Spyderco made some blacked out yellow handled salts.

When the addition is complete at Spyderco I hope that we see something like this. I'd buy one.

I plan to do this with both a pair of Pac Salt 2s and a pair of PM2 Salts. I’ve also put Ti scales on an LC200N UKPK.

It’s a thing. Do it. Do it now!

Spyderco has their new coating, so I expect to see all sorts of color combos.

Heck yeah...I have 2 of the PM2 Salts.
I'm looking forward to the yellow/black variant to do some swapping...
May even throw a S90V blade/aftermarket scales in the mix...

I had the same idea before for a Native 5 LW, but the following thought crossed my mind. Are the threaded inserts in the FRN (I assume there are for the Para3 like the Native 5 LW) made of the same material between the salt and the regular?

If not, I assume you could compromise the corrosion resistance if you thread the Salt screws into the non-Salt threads if you get galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals. Not an issue if the Frankensalt is not going to be used in the ocean all the time.

This is a good point about galvanic corrosion. I would swap all the hardware across but anything embedded in the scales wouldn’t swap. Anyone from spyderco know if this is going to be a problem?
