What knives are you planning on since the Amsterdam meet?
What knives are you planning on since the Amsterdam meet?
As usual, the Amsterdam meet thread from MR. Blonde is my favorite thread of the year. This year we got the added treat of videos of some of the knives. I feel like I speak for all Spyderco fans when I say Thank-you from all the people that will probably never get the chance to attend.
Now that the thread is finished, I'd like to hear what knives have been put on your acquisition lists, or what you are most excited about:
here's mine:
Definite purchases:
Reinhold Rhino: For me this is the one knife that really excited me the most. I have a thing for small blades, and it's a compression lock with a lanyard hole. Instant must have.
Bradley Tac 1S: Another must have: M4, and a new texture on titanium. It will be my first Spyderco Flipper.
Jumpmaster 2: I was on the fence about this one until the video. I see a Jumpmaster 2 with custom scales coming to my collection. It will become my new Bug Out Bag knife. (Replacing or augmenting a Bark River)
Maybe purchases:
Sage 5: I love my sage 2, but having the lanyard hole and a compression lock makes this one hard to pass up.
Bradley packer: I love the look of this one, still I rarely use fixed blade knives and I try not to acquire knives that just sit...I guess I could start carrying a fixed blade more often.
Then there are the lustworthy knives that I am anxious to hold but sadly probably won't buy:
Mamba: It just looks so cool, I just couldn't imagine ever carrying it due to its size. I won't spend that type of money on a shelf ornament.
Nirvana: Another beautiful budget buster.
So let's hear it, what knives from this year's meet spoke to you.

Ok, here's my two lists.
Knives I will purchase:
-Jumpmaster 2
-Cook's knife
Knives I might purchase:
-Lil Nilakka
-ATR
-Snap-it Salt
**Also, the Spydiechef gets an honorable mention. I love the design but the blade length is a bit short for how I was intending to use it.

Re: What knives are you planning on since the Amsterdam meet?
Absolute must have: PM3 (both FRN & G10)
(will buy as soon as I get the chance)
Hopefully will be able to buy: Jumpmaster2, Pattada, Lil' Rhino, Snap-It Salt, Sage 5.
(most of these will happen but will need some time to raise the funds)
Bradley Tac1 was very nice too but I'm not very big on flippers so not sure on that one.
Was great to see so many compression locks at a Spydiemeet!

Re: What knives are you planning on since the Amsterdam meet?
The TAC-1s, Magnitude, and Rubicon 2 are all piquing my interest in flippers again. They are all highly desirable to me.
The Ouroboros and Rhino seem like very practical, and promising, EDC options.
The Nirvana is still intriguing, but a lot of factors are minimizing my excitement for it.

Warhammer 40000 is- basically- Lord Of The Rings on a cocktail of every drug known to man and genuine lunar dust, stuck in a blender with Alien, Mechwarrior, Dune, Starship Troopers, Fahrenheit 451 and Star Wars, bathed in blood, turned up to eleventy billion, set on fire, and catapulted off into space screaming "WAAAGH!" and waving a chainsaw sword- without the happy ending.

Ouroboros!!
D'Allara
Maybe others when I become more familiar with them. The Jumpmaster 2 is appealing, but the serrations look shallower than those of the original, which I might go ahead and buy, especially if it's to be discoed at a lower price :)
Edit: on second thought, if the serrations are shallower, the edge in the serrations might be at a wider angle, which would allay my concerns that the H-1 might not be the best metal for cutting brush, which would be one of the main things I would end up doing with a Jumpmaster.

1.PM3 seen it, felt it, handled it. PErhaps it is nice to give this model s35vn as standard steel in stead of s30v
2. Ourobouros: felt very good, loved the ergos, precise cutting tool. Please something else as VG10......
3. Bradley tac1 one. That stunning Ti-orange skin! No-like: flipper position, IMHO it disturbs the esthetics of the knife and it did not felt good (again IMHO)
