Clips

Spyderco pioneered the use of pocket clips on folding knives in 1981, creating our groundbreaking CLIPIT® line and defining the form of the modern pocketknife. This now ubiquitous feature revolutionized pocketknife carry by positioning the knife at the top of the pocket for immediate access while freeing the rest of the pocket to carry other items. After introducing pocket clips on production knives, we have continued to innovate and remain the industry leaders in clip design. Our pocket clips include a number of different styles that balance convenience, comfort, versatility, and the visual exposure of the knife. Most of our clip designs can be configured for different carry positions to accommodate individual preferences and both right and left-handed users.

When it comes to pocket clips on knives, we were indisputably the first and still work tirelessly to remain the best.

Deep-Pocket Clip

Designed to mount near the very end of the handle, this style of clip allows the knife to ride low in the pocket with minimal exposure. Ideal for discreet carry, it keeps the knife secure and unobtrusive until needed.

Integral Pocket Clip

This style of clip is formed directly into an injection-molded knife handle. Used on Spyderco’s early lightweight models, it offers a streamlined, minimalist carry solution, but limits that carry to a single position.

Metal Clip

The most widely used clip type on Spyderco folders, metal clips are crafted from stainless steel or titanium and come in a range of shapes, finishes, and mounting styles. Many are reversible or multi-position, allowing users to customize their carry for left or right-side, tip-up or tip-down orientation.

Shackle

While not a true pocket clip, a shackle also allows a folding knife to be attached to the user or his equipment for quick, convenient access. Spyderco models like the C26 Snap-It™ and C30 Remote Release™ both featured hook-style shackles of this type.

Wire Clip

This clip is made from heat-treated wire and attached with a screw or barrel bolt. Some wire clips are designed for deep-pocket carry, while others position the knife higher so it is more easily accessible. Both styles, however, allow the clothing color to show through and are more discreet than solid metal clips.
