The Autonomy™ 2 proudly includes all the defining features of the revolutionary Autonomy automatic we developed for U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmers, but in a format optimized for general utility use. Its full-flat-ground, leaf-shaped blade is crafted from LC200N—an ultra-corrosion-resistant steel used by NASA for the ball bearings in spacecraft. It is paired with an ergonomic handle featuring full stainless steel liners, peel-ply-textured G-10 scales, and an easily indexed oversized firing button with safety. Like the original Autonomy, the blade’s opening mechanism is driven by a corrosion-resistant coil spring nested within a removable module. Engineered for end-user maintenance, this patented feature allows the module and spring to be easily removed with the tool in Spyderco’s spring replacement kit without disassembling the entire knife. To ensure convenient carry and immediate access, the handle includes a broad-based hourglass pocket clip that straddles the handle’s lined lanyard tube and is reversible for left or right-side, tip-up carry. The Autonomy two is available with two different finishes and three edge configuration options. The version with a satin-finished blade is available only in a PlainEdge™ format and features brightly finished handle hardware. The stealthy all-black Autonomy 2 cloaks its blade in a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating and offers it in a choice of PlainEdge™, CombinationEdge™, or fully serrated SpyderEdge™ configurations. All are complemented by matching black-coated liners, pocket clips, and handle hardware.
