Salt® Series expressions of the Sage™ 5 deliver all the proven performance qualities of this popular design in fearlessly corrosion-resistant formats that are ideal for use in and around the water.
Their full-flat-ground, satin-finished blades are crafted from CPM® MagnaCut®—a revolutionary purpose-designed blade steel that defies conventional metallurgical logic to offer an unparalleled balance of edge retention, toughness, and extreme corrosion resistance. These elite blades are housed in easy-to-clean, open-backed handles featuring G-10 scales, nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners, and Spyderco’s signature Compression Lock® mechanism. A reversible deep-pocket wire clip provides a choice of left- or right-side tip-up and is complemented by a generously sized lanyard hole for the easy attachment of fobs, lanyards, and safety lines.
Ideal for tactical applications requiring light discipline, the all-black Sage 5 Salt cloaks its blade in a non-reflective titanium carbonitride (TiCN) blade coating and pairs it with a black-coated pocket clip, liners, and handle hardware. Its handle scales feature both a peel-ply texture and a meticulously machined Caribbean Bi-Directional Texture™ pattern for an ultra-secure grip in all environmental conditions.
For enhanced visibility in and around the water, the Sage 5 Salt is also available with a satin-finished blade and two-tone black-and-yellow handle scales. To guarantee a secure grip, even with wet hands, the scales are painstakingly machined with our signature Caribbean Bi-Directional Texture pattern. This high-traction pattern also reveals the yellow layers of the G-10 for greater visibility in low-light conditions. All the knife’s handle hardware is crafted from ultra-corrosion-resistant marine-grade materials and enhanced by black coatings.
